I now proudly consider myself a lifestyle newborn photographer of Aiken, SC. However, it was a bit of a journey to get here! Early in my photography career I tested the waters of shooting studio newborn sessions. I bought all of the equipment. I organized all of these props and pieces. And then I welcomed my first client. Only to realize: I hated it. I tried every which way and I just simply had no passion, no spark, no fire. So I walked away. I gave away my equipment and chalked it up to a learning experience.
A few years later I agreed to do a lifestyle newborn session for a friend. BOOM. That was the piece of the puzzle I had been missing! My soul was on fire. I needed more. To photograph these sweet souls with their adoring parents in the warmth of their own home. To see that authentic love and light (and to quote Taylor Swift – the invisible string) that connects family members was everything.
Joy and passion are both very necessary for my creative fuel. And within those four walls I found that. Just like that I was back to photographing newborns. Further, I had found one of my favorite types of sessions to photograph. Getting to be a part of these beautiful milestones in life with my couples is such a joy.
From engagement sessions to newborns. Watching the way that love is able to always multiply never ceases to amaze me.
